1/23/2022 11:46:00 AM

RIPON, Wis. – The Carroll University men's indoor track and field team put up 89.25 points in a second-place finish at the Ripon Redhawk Opener. Carroll saw Kyle Adams, David Burgess, and Steven Hermsen take home first-place finishes in their respective events.

In track events, Kyle Adams took home 10 points for the Pioneers with a convincing win in the 1-mile run. Adams finished with a time of 4:30.27, which happened to be six seconds faster than second place, his teammate Zach Benes. Charlie Quast earned five points in the 3,000-meter run, while the 4x400 team finished in second place. Nathan Raatz finished with a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash, while Peter Mara, Kevin Lind, and Titan Kilgore picked up points in the 60-meter hurdles and the 60-meter dash.

In field and throwing events, Kevin Lind collected five team points on a fourth-place finish in the men's triple jump. Burgess' first place finish was tied with four others for 7.25 points. The four winners all jumped to 1.91 meters. Hermsen handily won the men's weight throw, finishing with a long of 17.42 meters. His teammate, Jimmy Hinkley was just behind him with a second place throw of 16.82 meters. Hermsen, who owns the men's shot put record, fell just short of his PR today, finishing in second place with a 14.26-meter toss. Max Campbell collected points in the shot put as well.

Carroll will compete next week in the Chicago land area at the newly designed Gately Park in the Aurora Grand Prix.
