CHICAGO, Ill. – The Carroll University men's track and field team ran at the Aurora Grand Prix hosted at Gately Park in Chicago on Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Adams set the new school record in the 3000-meter race at the event, extending the Carroll record-breaking streak.
In the track events, Adams finished in third place after breaking the record with a time of 8:37.36, almost five full seconds faster than the 10-year-old record.
Kevin Lind finished in sixth place in the 60-meter dash and followed up with ninth in the 200-meter.
Nathan Raatz secured a podium, third-place finish in the 400-meters, and
Zach Benes also claimed third in the 800-meter run.
Charles Quast finished just outside the top five with a sixth-place recording in the 5000-meter.
Peter Marra finished with a time just over nine seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, and the Carroll 4x400 relay team of Marra,
Troy Burkert, Benes, and Raatz finished in second place.
In field and throwing events,
David Burgess finished fifth with a triple jump of 12.97 meters.
Steven Hermsen finished in second place in the men's shot put after two fouls on his final two attempts.
Max Campbell finished behind Hermsen in seventh. Hermsen collected another second-place finish in the weight throw finals, hitting 17.77 meters in length.
James Hinkley finished just behind him in third-place with a 17.17-meter toss.
Next Friday, The Pioneers will head over to Carthage for the annual Tadd Metzger Invite.
