CHICAGO, Ill. – The No. 24 Carroll University women's indoor track and field team ran in the Aurora Grand Prix hosted at Gately Park in Chicago on Saturday afternoon. Three Pioneers collected first-place victories during the event.
Abbey Casey won the 800-meter race, while
Vanessa Uitenbroek and
Jamie Pankratz continued their first-place streaks this weekend.
In track events, Casey's time of 2:24.22 in the 800-meter became a new PR for the senior. Her teammate,
Natalie Dresang, finished two spots behind her, with a third-place finish in the same event.
Lexi Elegbede-Peer finished in sixth place in the 60-meter, with an 8.08 time.
Alli Spitzer finished just outside the top five in the women's mile race, while
Elizabeth Reddeman just missed first-place with a 3,000-meter time of 10:42.76, good for second-place.
Mary Quinn finished top three in the 60-meter hurdles, and the women's 4x400 squad comprised of
Hannah Bouwkamp,
Abby Brinkman, Casey and Spitzer, finished the weekend with fourth.
In field and throwing events, Quinn,
Sydney Halversen, and
Sarah Gomez all finished inside the top 10 in the women's high jump finals.
Jessica Mueller matched her height of 3.05 meters from last weekend and came away with sixth place. Uitenbroek barely beat out her teammate
Maria Falk in the weight throw, as the two of them threw over 12.80 meters. Pankratz hit a new PR in the weight throw, to put her seventh in the nation in the event. Uitenbroek and
Cate Gudaitis finished inside the top-ten in the weight throw as well.
Next Friday, The Pioneers will head over to Carthage for the annual Tadd Metzger Invite.
