ELMHURST, Ill. - The Carroll University women's tennis team swept Elmhurst University 9-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at Brune Tennis Courts on Saturday.
It was the second conference sweep and third overall for Carroll, which improved to 3-5 in the league standings and 7-5 overall.
Madison Ostrander won a gritty, three-set victory at No. 6 singles, overcoming an early one-set deficit to defeat Elmhurst's Silivia Barak 5-7, 6-1, 10-3 to lead the Pioneers to their first road victory of the season.
Ostrander, a junior from Batavia, Ill., has won three of her last four individual matches and improved to 2-5 in league and 5-6 overall.
Grace Krueger (No. 1),
Ashley LaBelle (No. 2),
Sophia Dekker (No. 3),
Maya Gaedtke (No. 4) and
Aalaiya Jacklin (No. 5) each contributed a straight-set singles victory for Carroll.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for Dekker, who improved to 4-3 in conference and 6-3 overall. Gaedtke has won three straight and improved to 4-4 in conference and 5-5 overall.
The No. 1 doubles team of Krueger and LaBelle won 8-1, the No. 2 duo of Dekker and Jacklin followed with an 8-5 victory and the No. 3 tandem of Gaedtke and Ostrander added an 8-0 victory to complete the sweep.
