WAUWATOSA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's volleyball team posted a 1-1 record on the final day of the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on Saturday, sweeping Mount Mary University in the opener 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 but losing the finale to No. 12-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 25-10, 25-15, 25-18.
It was the final competition of the season for Carroll, which finished 2-1 in the two-day invitational (including two victories by sweep).
The Pioneers won four of their last five duals to finish the successful season above .500 with a 15-14 overall record.
vs. Mount Mary
Megan Aalsma finished with a team-high 10 kills and two blocks in the second-round sweep over Mount Mary.
Bella Alfaro contributed eight kills, eight digs and one block for Carroll, which generated double-digit kills in all three sets (including 15 kills with just four errors and .393 hitting percentage in the decisive third set ).
Emmie Magnin had seven kills.
Caitlin Laird collected 15 digs and two service aces for the Pioneers, who generated 55 points, 41 kills, nine aces, five blocks, 54 digs and 36 assists.
Cora Riffle added a team-best three aces, eight digs and 19 assists in the dominant effort.
vs. UW-Oshkosh
Katie Jensen generated a team-high six kills versus nationally-ranked high-powered UW-Oshkosh.
Peyton Frost followed with five kills and eight digs for Carroll, which had a confidence-building 13 kills with five errors and .205 hitting percentage in the third set.
Kaitlin Gawelski had four kills, Laird collected 12 digs and Riffle added 11 assists.
UW-Oshkosh improved to 29-4 overall.
