NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Carroll University women's indoor track and field team finished in fifth place after tough competition at the 2022 Heenan Invite hosted by North Central.
Lexi Elegbede-Peer broke the 60-meter dash school record twice in one day.
In track events, Elegbede-Peer first set the school record in prelims, coming in with a time of 7.95. In the finals, she knocked 0.01 second off in her fifth-place finish. In the mile run, Ali Spitzer finish just out of reach of first place, with a time of 5:19.94.
Abbey Casey wasn't far behind with a seventh place finish.
Elizabeth Reddeman turned in the second-fastest 5,000-meter time of the day, as her and
Alison Klostermann picked up 10 Carroll points.
Mary Quinn earned an eighth place finish in the 60-meter hurdle event, and the Pio 4x400 team of
Hannah Bouwkamp,
Abby Brinkman, Casey, and Spitzer finished fifth.
In field and throwing events,
Sydney Halversen tied for sixth place in the high jump, collecting 2.5 points.
Jessica Mueller hit the 3.20 meter mark in her pole vault sixth place finish.
Vanessa Uitenbroek finished top-three in the shot put, hitting 13.01 on her fifth throw.
Maria Falk and
Cate Gudaitis finished in seventh and eighth, respectively.
Jamie Pankratz's winning streak fell on Saturday, as she settled for second-place in the weight throw as she cracked 17.45 meters and advanced in her national ranking. Uitenbroek and Guaditis finished in the top-eight as well.
Carroll has one more meet before the CCIW Championships, and that is the Titan Challenge hosted by UW-Oshkosh next week Saturday.
