KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's indoor track and field team competed on Friday at the annual Tadd Metzger Invite on the campus of Carthage College. The Pioneers finished in third place with 117.5 points.
Mary Quinn broke the school record in the pentathlon in the morning multi events, and
Jessica Mueller,
Cate Gudaitis, and
Jamie Pankratz finished with victories in their events.
Quinn finished in fifth place with 2,636 points in the pentathlon. Quinn finished with the fourth best time in the 55-meter hurdles and the third highest jump in the high jump. Abigail Alberts and
Savannah Krzykowski also competed in the five events.
In track events,
Taylor Olund and
Kayla Murphy earned team points in the 55-meter dash, while
Lexi Elegbede-Peer,
Hannah Bouwkamp, and Olund all added 15 total points to the Carroll team total in the 200-meter dash.
Ellie King added two points in the 400-meter and Chiri Watanbe and
Mako Ishimoto collected team scores in the 800-meter. The Carroll 4x400 relay team comprised of King,
Alivia Rass,
Desirae Steier, and Watanbe finished in third place as well.
In field and throwing events,
Sarah Gomez and
Sydney Halversen finished in second and third place, respectively, in the high jump. Mueller's victory in the pole vault came with her second jump of the afternoon, hitting the 2.90 meter mark. Tessa Meiss finished just behind Mueller in the same event. Gudaitis claimed her first victory of the season in the shot put, after her first throw in the finals eclipsed the 12.33 mark.
Maria Falk followed close behind with a finish of 12.25.
Vanessa Uitenbroek, the no. 1 shot put thrower in DIII, fouled out on her first three attempts. Pankratz continued her winning streak as she won the weight throw with a throw of 16.62-meters. Uitenbroek, Falk, and
Megan Brisbois earned team points in the event as well.
Next Saturday, the Pioneers travel to Naperville to compete in the Heenan Invite.
