Steven Hermsen Earns Carroll’s First Men’s Weight Throw All-American Title

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Senior Steven Hermsen of Carroll men's indoor track and field finished in fifth place at the 2022 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field National Championships and earned All-American honors in the weight throw. Hermsen becomes Carroll's first male thrower to earn indoor All-American honors in school history.
 
Hermsen, a Doctor of Physical Therapy Student from De Pere, Wisconsin, reached the finals on his second throw in flight two. Hermsen's throw of 18.03 meters put him in fifth place overall, and with his third throw in prelims, Hermsen vaulted into third place with a huge toss of 18.89 meters. In the finals, Hermsen recorded two sub-18-meter throws and a foul in his final attempt. Hermsen's finished in the top five in his first indoor national event.
 
Hermsen competes again on Saturday, March 12 at 2 PM EST in the men's shot put event. Hermsen enters the shot put event in the second flight.
