HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Carroll University women's tennis team lost to Indiana University-Kokomo 6-3 in a nonconference dual meet Monday.
It was the first dual of a challenging three-match Spring Break road trip for Carroll, which dropped to 5-8 overall.
Ashley LaBelle won in straight sets at No. 2 singles to lead the Pioneers, defeating Larissa O' Rourke 6-1, 6-2.
LaBelle, a junior from Mukwonago, Wis., improved her individual record to 6-7 in dual competition and 7-8 overall.
Kaitlin Brandl, a sophomore from Nashotah, Wis., followed with a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles by defeating Veronica Fiscus 6-2, 7-5.
Carroll's other victory came at No. 1 doubles as LaBelle and
Grace Krueger, a graduate student from Geneva, Ill., defeated O' Rourke and Reiley Hiser 8-3.
The experienced duo improved to 4-5 overall with the successful effort.
The Pioneers are scheduled to face University of Lynchburg in a nonconference dual Tuesday at 9 a.m. (EST).
