WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carroll University women's outdoor track and field team finished in first place at their own Pioneer Open meet on Sunday, recording 204 team points. Seven Pioneers took home first place accolades, including two from
Vanessa Uitenbroek.
Elizabeth Reddeman broke the Carroll women's 3000m steeplechase record as well.
In track events, Reddeman's record breaking performance gained 10 team points with her first place finish with a time of 11:27.86. Reddeman also took home a first-place finish with
Abby Brinkman,
Natalie Dresang, and
Alli Spitzer in the 4x400 meter race.
Mary Quinn medaled in both the high jump and the 100-meter hurdle race, finishing in first and third, respectively. Abigail Alberts added two team points in the 100-meter hurdle race too.
Lexi Elegbede-Peer picked up two second place finishes in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
Hannah Bouwkamp added a team point in the 100-meter dash, and in the 400-meter hurdles, while Brinkman finished top eight in the 200-meter dash. Brinkman also finished second in the 400-meter dash with
Victoria Watson and
Ellie King adding top-eight times as well. Spitzer collected team points with a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run.
Alison Klostermann finished second place in the 5000-meter run, while
Chiri Watanabe and
Natalie Dresang collected team points in the 800-meter run.
In field and throwing events, Quinn and
Sydney Halversen tied for first in the high jump with jumps of 1.48 meters. Alberts came in fifth in the event as well.
Jessica Mueller claimed the pole vault title with a height of 3.23 meters while
Tessa Meiss finished behind her with a 2.18-meter max height. In the discus throw, three Pioneers finished in the top eight in points, led by V. Uitenbroek's 43.17-meter toss.
Cate Gudaitis and
Haiden Zimmermann added points to the event. V. Uitenbroek also delivered a first-place finish in the shot put, with a toss of 13.48 meters.
Maria Falk and Gudaitis collected points in the shot put too. Alberts,
Emily Uitenbroek, and Gudaitis collected team points in the javelin throw.
Reigning National Champion
Emily Uitenbroek won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.20 meters. placing her third in the nation currently.
Jamie Pankratz fresh off her All-American title at Indoor Nationals, finished third in the hammer. Earlier this week, E. Uitenbroek and Pankratz competed at the Beloit open in the hammer as well.
