Carroll women dominate in home-court finale

Krueger, LaBelle, Dekker, Gaedtke, Brandl earn straight-set singles victories as Pioneers defeat Wisconsin Lutheran to claim seventh dual win of season

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's tennis team defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College 8-1 in a nonconference dual meet at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
It was the final home-court dual meet of the season and second consecutive victory for Carroll, which improved to 7-9 overall with the dominant effort.
The Pioneers claimed five straight-set victories in the singles category and showcased their versatility by sweeping the doubles flight.
Carroll currently has a .500 winning percentage in singles this year with a 46-46 record.
Grace Krueger won in straight sets at No. 1 singles to lead Carroll, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran's Katelynn Haskell 6-2, 6-0.
Krueger, a graduate student from Geneva, Ill. improved her individual record to 3-6 overall.
Ashley LaBelle followed with a victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Jena Smith 6-0, 6-0.
It was the fourth straight victory for LaBelle, a junior from Mukwonago, Wis. who captured her team-leading 10th individual win of the season while improving to 10-8 overall.
Freshman Sophia Dekker won at No. 3 singles, defeating Izzy Hawley 6-3, 6-0
Dekker, a freshman from Franklin, Wis., claimed her second consecutive victory to improve to 8-4 overall for the Pioneers.
Maya Gaedtke, a junior from Antigo, Wis., contributed a strong victory at No. 4 singles, ousting Sky Pope 6-0, 6-4 to improve to 6-10 overall.
Kaitlin Brandl, a sophomore from Oconomowoc, Wis., added a statement-making victory at No. 6 singles, beating Kayla Roethke 6-1, 6-0 to remain undefeated on the season with a 4-0 record.
The No. 1 doubles combination of Krueger and LaBelle posted an 8-1 victory and the No. 2 tandem of Dekker and Gaedtke won by an 8-0 margin for Carroll. The No. 3 tandem of Rachel Papp, a junior from Oak Creek, Wis., and Francesca Grimes, a junior from Wadsworth, Ill., added an 8-1 victory.
