MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Carroll University women's outdoor track and field team finished up in fifth place with 54 points at the competitive Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Invitational on Thursday. Emily and
Vanessa Uitenbroek won the hammer throw and the discus throw events, respectively.
In track events,
Alli Spitzer finished in second place in the women's 800-meter run, while
Abby Brinkman secured a team point in the 400-meter dash.
Mary Quinn finished up in the top eight in the women's 100-meter hurdles, coming in with a time of 16.75 in the windy finals. Quinn contributed to the women's 4x400 team that finished in third place. Other participants included Brinkman,
Natalie Dresang, and Spitzer.
Taylor Olund,
Hannah Bouwkamp,
Sydney Halversen, and
Lexi Elegbede-Peer finished fifth in the 4x100 race.
In throwing events,
Emily Uitenbroek won the hammer throw with a throw of 49.93 meters, while
Jamie Pankratz finished right behind her with a 48.61 good for second place. V. Uitenbroek won the discus throw event and set a meet record with a 44.91-meter throw. V. Uitenbroek's throw landed her in the top five in the nation in the Discus as of Thursday night. In the shot put,
Maria Falk secured team points for the Pioneers after a fifth-place finish.
