Pioneers Second Best at St. Norbert Tri

DE PERE, Wis. – The Carroll University women's track and field team finished second with 155 points in the St. Norbert Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Alli Spitzer, Jamie Pankratz, Maria Falk, and Cate Gudaitis all claimed first place finishes.
 
In track events, Spitzer won the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:56.62. Sam Knutilla added three more points to the 1500-meter Carroll total with a sixth-place finish. Kate O'Neill added six points with her finish in the 10,000-meter run. Abby Brinkman and Victoria Watson collected eight total points int eh 400-meter dash. Brinkman then followed up her performance with a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Hannah Bouwkamp added one point in the 100-meter dash, and then finished second in the 400-meter hurdles. In the 800-meter, Abbey Casey, Chiri Watanabe, Natalie Dresang, and Grace Tinder all finished in the top eight to add points to the total. Alison Klostermann, Annikka Johnson and Isabel Szablewski collected 11 points in the 5000-meter run. The 'A Team' 4x400 team of Ellie King, Grace Tinder, Natalie Dresang, and Chiri Watanbe finished third.
 
In field events, Falk won the shot put with a throw of 12.71 meters. Gudaitis and Kaitlyn Brucci finished inside the top four as well to add points to the Carroll team total. With Gudaitis' winning discus throw of 40.50 meters, Falk and Megan Brisbois collected points while finishing in the top-eight. Pankratz hit 49.48 meters in the hammer throw, over five meters farther than the second-place finish. Kelsey Moran and Brisbois finished inside the top-five. Jessica Mueller and Tessa Meiss added 13 points in the women's pole vault. Sydney Halversen tied for first in the high jump but finished second on the leaderboard with a jump of 1.52 meters. Moran and Gudaitis wrapped up the events with two top-eight throws.
