CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Vanessa Uitenbroek of Carroll University women's track and field competed on day two of the University of Illinois Illini Invite on Saturday afternoon.
 
In the shot put, Uitenbroek hit 14.00 meters even to finish in fifth place. Uitenbroek made the finals with a high throw of 13.74 meters with her final prelims throw. On her fifth throw of the event, Uitenbroek moved into fifth place with the 14.00-meter throw. Uitenbroek moves into the top-ten in the nation with her outdoor career-best throw.
 
In the discus, Uitenbroek finished 12^th with a throw of 40.81 meters. Uitenbroek hit the mark on her first throw, and after a foul on her second attempt, failed to reach the finals with a third throw of under 41.93 meters to qualify.
