WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Carroll University women's track and field team posted noteworthy marks at the Drake Alternative meet hosted by UW-Whitewater on Friday. 10 Pios finished with top-eight placements in their respected events.
In track events,
Mary Quinn posted a time in the 100-meter hurdles prelims to get her into the finals, and came in sixth in the finals event with a time of 16.14.
Abbey Casey finished inside the top-eight with a seventh-place finish in the women's 800 run. In the longer runs,
Alli Spitzer finished just shy of sub-five minutes in the 1500, and
Elizabeth Reddeman finished top-five in the 5K run. The women's 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Quinn,
Abby Brinkman, Casey, and Spitzer finished in second place with a time just over four minutes and fifteen seconds.
In field and throwing events,
Vanessa Uitenbroek was centimeters away from history, with a discus throw of 47.06 meters almost breaking the school record. Her performance landed her third in the afternoon.
Cate Gudaitis finished in eighth with a throw that broke 40 meters. V. Uitenbroek came in second place in the shot put with a throw of 13.78 meters.
Emily Uitenbroek and
Jamie Pankratz finished in the top eight in the hammer throw, with Uitenbroek's mark of 56.66 meters finishing third.
Abby Alberts had a strong showing in the women's javelin throw, finishing fourth with a distance of 33.71 meters.
