Men’s Golf Drops Hatchet Match

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Carroll University men's golf team surrendered the hatchet trophy after falling to St. Norbert by a score of 3-4 on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers shot 311 as a team, while the Knights shot 303.
 
Erik Hopp led all golfers with a low round of 73, or one over par at the 7,006 yard, par 72 Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Despite a double bogey, Hopp tallied four bridies, including finishing -1 after the front nine.
 
Evan Bridges finished just behind Hopp, tying for second with a 75. Bridges tallied one birdie per nine holes, despite having a tough +3 front nine. Bridges scored par on his final five holes to remain second.
 
Devin Wilde finished with an 81 after a tough back nine for the senior. Adam Nuxoll was one stroke behind him with an 82 after a bogey on the 18th hole of the round. Brandon Burdick tallied an 88 after a +9 front nine.
 
Cameron Zeinert and Cade Gumieny recorded rounds of 94 and 97, respectively. The Pioneers will return to the links on Monday, April 11 at the Judson Spring Invite at Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Illinois.
