STURTEVANT, Wis. – The Carroll University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Firebird Fall Invite at Ives Grove Golf Course on Tuesday, finishing eighth in the 16-team field with a 36-hole score of 599 (+23).
The Pioneers followed Monday's opening-round 300 (+12) with a second-round 299 (+11), closing just one stroke under their first-round total. Aurora captured the team title at even par for the tournament, followed by Millikin (+3) and Carthage (+5).
Carroll was led by freshman Carter Morrison, who paced the Pioneers in both rounds and finished tied for 17th overall at 147 (+3). After an opening-round 73, Morrison carded a 74 on Tuesday, highlighted by birdies on holes No. 2 and No. 14.
Tyler Hoffmann turned in Carroll's second-best finish, tying for 24th at 148 (+4). Hoffmann opened with an even-par 72 before posting a 76 in the final round.
Preston Powell made one of the biggest moves for the Pioneers during the second round. After shooting 78 on Monday, Powell fired a one-under-par 71 Tuesday,
Grant Naumann finished tied for 68th with a two-day total of 157 (+13), while Charlie Wu rounded out the team scoring in a tie for 70th at 158 (+14).
Competing as individuals, Fernando Cirajas continued his strong play with rounds of 71 and 74 to finish tied for 10th overall at 145 (+1). Cirajas was one of only a handful of players in the field to post an under-par round during the event. Sigge Lundin tied for 76th at 159 (+15), and Noah Rhodes finished 85th at 164 (+20).

The Pioneers will now turn their attention to the Midwest Region Classic which will be one of the deeper fields Carroll has competed in. The tournament will be held on September 25th and 26th at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, WI
