WAUKESHA, Wis. --The Carroll University softball team took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-2 victory over the North Central (IL) Cardinals on Wednesday.
Junior Grace Bradley (3-2) got the win for Carroll (9-4, 1-0). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
Junior Mathena Higgins led the way offensively for the Pioneers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and three RBI. Senior Kaylee Learman compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with an RBI. Senior Madison Wagner also helped out, going 2-for-4 for Carroll.
