NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Carroll University men's tennis team lost to No. 16-ranked Wheaton College 9-0 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at the Princeton Club on Saturday afternoon.
It was the regular season conference dual finale for Carroll, which dropped to 0-7 in the league standings and 1-14 overall.
The Pioneers' lone regular-season victory came versus Lakeland University (7-2) in a nonconference dual at Four Lakes Athletic Club on March 5th.
Jack McCaffery, a freshman from Waukesha, Wis., lost in straight sets at No. 1 singles, falling to Wheaton's Jack Wenzel 6-1, 6-1.
Carroll's most competitive doubles match came as the No. 1 duo of
Luke Barter and
Ian Hofland lost 8-2 to Joey Geisz and Jacob Williams.
The eighth-seeded Pioneers are scheduled to face top-seeded and No. 9-ranked North Central College in the opening round of the CCIWÂ Championships (hosted by Carthage College) at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis., on May 5th at 9 a.m.
