GENEVA, Ohio – Steven Hermsen of Carroll University men's track and field won the 2022 discus title at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Hermsen is now a two-time National Champion in the event, after winning it a year ago.
 
Hermsen, a senior from De Pere, Wisconsin, won the event with a throw of 54.93 meters. In the second prelim flight, Hermsen claimed his spot in finals with a throw of 52.65 meters to jump into fourth place going into finals. It was Hermsen's second throw in finals that secured his title and vaulted him into first-place as he held off the field in the final series.
 
Hermsen is now a two-time All-American and National Champion in outdoor competitions.
