WHEATON, Ill. -- The Carroll University women's track and field team finished up the two-day 2022 CCIW Women's Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 7 on campus of Wheaton College. The Pioneers finished third overall with 100 points, finishing both indoor and outdoor seasons top-three in the CCIW. Carroll collected 19 all-conference titles, broke one school record, and
Vanessa Uitenbroek earned her first CCIW Field Athlete of the Meet award after being crowned with two conference championships.
In multi events,
Mary Quinn finished fourth in the heptathlon with 3887 points, to re-set her school record set earlier this spring. Quinn finished top-five in five of the seven events, including second in the long jump, second in the 100 hurdles, and third in the javelin.
In track events, Quinn also earned all-conference with a seventh place finish in the 100m hurdles.
Abby Brinkman finished top eight in the 400 meter dash event to earn Carroll team points.
Abbey Casey finished in sixth place in the 800 meter run, and
Alli Spitzer took home second in the 1500m race.
Elizabeth Reddeman earned Carroll five points in the 5000m run and to claim an all-conference honor.
In field events,
Vanessa Uitenbroek won both the shot put and the discus event on Saturday. Uitenbroek's mark of 13.86 in the shot put won the event by .06 meters. Joining her in the top-eight was
Maria Falk Kaitlyn Brucci. In the discus, Uitenbroek and Cate Gudiatis were yards ahead of their competition finishing first and second, respectfully in the event. Falk followed up with an eighth place finish for her second all-conference title of the day. In the hammer,
Emily Uitenbroek won her third straight CCIW title in the event. Uitenbroek won by just over four meters.
Jamie Pankratz finished second in the event, while
Megan Brisbois earned all-conference honors too. Uitenbroek, E. earned all-conference with
Abby Alberts in the javelin throw as well. Sydney Halverson finished fourth in the women's high jump with a height of 1.52 meters, and
Jessica Mueller finished the day with a fifth place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.45 meters.
Other Pioneers to collect awards included Spitzer winning the CCIW Elite 25 Award, and
Taylor Olund winning Carroll's RESPECT Award.
