WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Carroll University women's soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak to Lake Forest College on Tuesday afternoon by winning on the road 1-0.
Grace Tumilty scored her second goal of the season in the win.
The Pioneers (3-1) held the ball less than the Foresters this game, but recorded one more shot than the home team did.
Elizabeth Weinberg carried the team with eight shot attempts, five of which were on target.
Caitlin Fitzsimons collected a career-best six saves on another career-high 11 shots faced in her third shutout of the season.
The Foresters began the game on an heavy attack, recording five shots before Carroll's first. Weinberg's first shot was wide left, but later she ran the ball up the far side, crossed it through the middle to Tumilty just as the top of the box, and beat a charging keeper to score the first goal of the game. Weinberg added three more shot attempts before the end of the half.
Fitzsimons started the second half with two quick saves to keep the Pios in the lead. Weinberg recorded four more shots in the second half while Fitzsimons tallied an additional save. As the clock ticked down, the Pioneers were able to keep the ball away from the Foresters with solid defense.
Carroll returns to Schneider Stadium for a match Thursday night against Coe College at 7 PM. This game will be the Kohawk's first ever appearance playing the Pioneers.
