Women’s Soccer Plays to Draw Against Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – The Carroll University women's soccer team recorded their first draw of the 2022 season Saturday afternoon at Beloit, playing to a 1-1 tie over 90 minutes. With the NCAA's rule changes, matches tied after 90 minutes do not enter overtime in the regular season. Maddie Belo scored Carroll's lone goal.

The Pioneers (4-1-1) handed Beloit their second tie of the season. Carroll was outshot by the Bucs by one attempt. Four of Carroll's 11 shots came from Elizabeth Weinberg. Fitzsimons tallied four saves for the Pios with the one goal allowed. Carroll surrendered nine corner kicks but took six of their own. The Bucs barely out-possessed Carroll too, as the Pioneers held the ball for 49% of the contest.

Carroll tallied four straight corner kicks in the 23rd minute of the first half, but soon after Beloit capitalized with the first goal of the game in the 28th minute. The Bucs ended the half with a corner kick attempt five minutes before the first-half buzzer.

Belo opened the scoring two minutes into the second half to tie the contest at 1-1. Brielle Ingalsbee provided the pass that led to the goal. Carroll took four of the next five shot attempts but only put one on target. The Buccaneers threated numerous times towards the end of the game, taking five corners and five shots in the final five minutes. Fitzsimons recorded two more saves to keep the game tied.
