WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's volleyball team stepped out of conference play Tuesday night, defeating Benedictine (Ill.) in four sets. The Pioneers controlled the first two sets, winning 25-11, 25-17, before Benedictine took the third set 25-18. Benedictine then led for the entire first half of the fourth set, before a furious Pioneer rally ended the game with a 25-20 victory in the final frame.
Carroll (11-11) recorded 59 kills in the contest, to go along with a hitting percentage of .248. Benedictine (9-8) tallied 34 kills and a hitting percentage of .092. The Pioneers also held the edge in both assists (57-27) and digs (78-56).
Leading the way for the Pioneers was
Peyton Frost, who recorded a career-high 18 kills, to go along with two blocks.
Ashley Konecki and
Katie Jensen each added 13 kills in the winning effort. Reigning CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete
Rebekah Andreae continued her strong season with a match-high four blocks, while
Payton Depies added a career-best 51 assists.
Maggie McGough led the Pios in digs with 22.
Benedictine was led by Olivia McPherson's nine kills and four service aces. Amelia Owolabi added nine kills and a team-high three blocks, while Kiara McPherson recorded 23 assists. Courtney Levy led the Eagles with 18 digs.
The Pioneers will be in action again on Friday when they'll jump back into conference play at Wheaton (Ill.). That match will begin at 7 p.m. in Wheaton, Ill.
