WHEATON, Ill. - Carroll's men's soccer team lost to Wheaton (Ill.) Wednesday night by a score of 4-1, behind a trio of second-half goals. The shots were tied at 14 in the game, while Carroll held the edge in corner kicks, 7-2.
The game's first goal came in the 27th minute when Pryse Anderson received a deep lob pass from Mason Louth for a one-on-one with the Goal Keeper. With a soft touch past the keeper in the bottom middle of the net, Anderson scored his 11th goal of the season.
After doubling that lead with another goal in the opening minutes of the second half, the Thunder scored a third goal when Kyle Johnson scored with a shot into the bottom left of the net for his eighth score of the season, thanks to an assist from Timmy Jones. Wheaton (8-4-1, 3-0-1 CCIW) would take a 4-0 lead in the 56th minute when Grant Roney scored for the second time this season, off a defender deflection into the net. Carroll's only goal of the contest came in the 79th minute when
Josh Gonzaga assisted on
Marc Gollner's third goal of the year, kicking a line drive into the bottom left of the net past a diving Goal Keeper.

Jesper Johannassen play all 90 minutes between the pipes, saving two shots. His counterpart for Wheaton, Maosn Escalante, also played the entire game, making three saves.
The Pioneers will be in action again on Saturday against #20 North Central (Ill.) in a game that will be part of Carroll's annual Homecoming celebration. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m. as part of a triple header that will include football and women's soccer preceding it at Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis.
