WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's men's soccer team gave the fifth-ranked team in Division-III all they could handle Saturday night, losing to North Central College by a score of 2-1. The shots were fairly even as well, with North Central owning a 7-4 advantage, while also holding a 5-3 edge on corner kicks.

North Central (12-1-2, 3-0-2 CCIW) got the scoring started in the 16th minute when Aidan Westerberg found the back of the net on a Penalty Kick for his fifth goal of the season. Nearly nine minutes later, the Cardinals would double their lead on an own goal, giving them a 2-0 halftime lead.

The Pioneers (5-9-1, 1-5-1 MWC) would cut that lead in half in the opening minutes of the second half on a goal by Ethan Kratzer, thanks to an assist from Marti Solanellas. The two teams then played evenly the rest of the way, with both defenses holding firm for the remainder of the contest.

Carroll Goal Keeper Jesper Johannassen played all 90 minutes for the Pioneers, making two saves. North Central's Sid Marquardt also played the entire game in goal, saving one shot.

The Pioneers will be in action again Wednesday when they'll travel to Lawrence University for a non-conference battle, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Appleton, Wis.
