Zane Walters scored what became the winning goal off an assist from
Nico Hinten Llorens in the 50th minute as the Carroll University men's soccer team defeated Augustana College 3-2 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Thorson-Lucken Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was the second conference victory of the season for Carroll, which earned its second consecutive road victory of the week to improve to 2-4-1 in the league standings and 7-8-1 overall.
David Serra Dizy contributed two first-half goals for the Pioneers, finishing on an assist from
Ethan Kratzer in the 10th minute to tie the game 1-1 followed the go-ahead goal off an assist from
Marti Solenalles Vilella in the 22nd minute.
Carroll outshot Augustana 24-8 in the contest, including a critical 13-6 shot-on-goal advantage.
Jesper Johannassen registered three saves in playing the entire 90 minutes for the Pioneers.
Derek Dedume scored two goals for Augustana, which dropped to 0-7 in conference and 0-13-2.
North Central (5-0-2), Wheaton (5-0-1), North Park (4-1-1), Elmhurst (4-3) and Illinois Wesleyan have clinched the top-five seeds in the upcoming CCIW Tournament. Carthage (2-3-1) and Carroll (2-4-1) currently remain in contention for the sixth spot.
The Pioneers are scheduled to host third-place No. 25-ranked North Park University in the regular-season finale at Schneider Stadium at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
