Carroll begins season with challenging Warhawk Classic

Pioneers gain valuable experience in placing eighth in round-robin tournament

MADISON, Wis. - The Carroll University women's bowling team competed in the season-opening University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic at Dream Lanes over the weekend.

Carroll, which posted a 1-13 overall record to place eighth in the challenging three-day competition, combined for a final score of 10,971.

The round-robin tournament consisted of seven traditional scored team games and seven baker-style format games.

Ava Butt finished 17th overall in the 63-player field with a combined total of 1,201, averaging 171.57 per game for the Pioneers. 

Butt, a freshman from Wautoma, Wis., responded with an individual high of 202 in her sixth game in making her collegiate debut.

Vanderbilt University finished 13-1 to claim the team title with a combined total of 14,294.
