Women's Soccer Ties With Carthage

Waukesha, Wis. -- Carroll University's women's soccer team tied 1-1 on the road against CCIW opponent Carthage. Senior Ally Scoma was the lone Pioneer to score in the game.

The Pioneers (7-4-1) took 16 shots, with 10 being on target. Carroll committed nine fouls throughout the course of the game. Senior, Caitlin Fitzsimons faced just three shots on the night, making one save.

An aggressive start to the game, Carroll would get two shots off in the opening four minutes of play from Brielle Ingalsbee and Scoma. This would set the pace for the majority of the game, as Carroll would find themselves getting three more attempts before the 25 minute mark. The shots would lead to Scoma finding the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the 23' minute. Carroll would continue to hold control of the game as Carthage would take their first shot of the game in the 41' minute of the half. Carroll would get one last opportunity at the end of the half to score, but Maddie Belo would have her shot saved by the keeper. This would send Carroll into half up 1-0.

The Pioneers would look to keep control of the game as Ingalsbee and Grace Tumilty would both take two shots in the opening five minutes of the second half. The ball would remain in Carroll's control for the majority of the half. An unfortunate turn of events for the Pioneers happened in 76' minute of play as Carroll would concede an own goal. This would tie the game 1-1. Carroll would look to push to take the lead back getting up two more shots, but would be unsuccessful finding the back of the net. The final three whistles would sound leaving the Pioneers walking away with a 1-1 tie.

Carroll will be back in action on Saturday, October 7th, as they host CCIW opponent Illinois Wesleyan at 1:00 PM.
