KENOSHA, Wis. - In a match between intrastate conference rivals, Carroll defeated Carthage College Wednesday night by a score of 5-4. The Pioneers won three of the six singles matches, while also taking two of the three doubles contests to earn the victory.
In singles play, Carroll (3-5, 1-3 CCIW) was victorious in each of the top three flights.
Natasa Pupovac won at the number one flight by a score of 6-4, 6-3, while
Sophia Dekker and
Maya Gaedtke won at the number two and three flights, respectively, by scores of 6-3, 6-2, and 6-1, 6-3.
Pupovac and Dekker then teamed up for Carroll's top doubles flight, defeating Carthage's top doubles team 8-6. The reigning CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week, Gaedtke also won in doubles play, teaming up with
Katherine Trifilio to win at the number two flight 8-6.
The Pioneers will be in action again on Saturday when they'll travel to Decatur, Ill. to battle Millikin University at 2 p.m.
