DECATUR, Ill. - Carroll's women's tennis team defeated Millikin 7-2 Saturday afternoon, to earn their second victory in as many matches this week. The Pioneers won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-9, while also taking four of the six singles matches on the day.
Carroll's top doubles team of
Natasa Pupovac and
Madison Ostrander defeated Millikin's top doubles team by a score of 8-3.
Maya Gaedtke and
Katherine Trifilio also teamed up for an 8-0 victory at the second flight, while
Aalaiya Jacklin and
Makayla Counsell earned a hard-fought 8-6 win at the number three flight.
In singles play, Gaedtke was victorious at the second flight, 6-3, 6-1, while Trifilio won at number three singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Kaitlin Brandl and Jacklin also won at the fifth and sixth flight, respectively, by scores of 6-4, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-1.
The Pioneers will be in action again on Sunday when they'll travel to Illinois Wesleyan. That match is scheduled for 9 a.m. in Bloomington, Ill.
