MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Carroll University women's lacrosse team took it to Augsburg on Sunday, defeating the Auggies 21-3 on the road.
Katrina Hardin tied her single-game record of 10 points, which is the second-most points in a game in program history.
Clara Jelacic secured nine draw controls while
Ariana Cullam caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls.
The Pioneers (2-0) led 9-1 after the first quarter and 15-2 at halftime. Carroll had a 35-11 shot advantage, and 30 of their shots were on goal.
Rebecca McDaniels picked up the win for Carroll with the start, but
Alicia Van Dale recorded six saves in the second half. Carroll went 13-14 on clears and only turned the ball over 11 times.
Hardin was the first goal-scorer of the game in the first minute. The Pioneer offense jumped back into gear after four minutes had gone by, as Hardin and
Lexi Kaltenberg pushed Carroll up 3-0.
Rebecca Hallman scored on a free-position shot, while Hardin and Kaltenberg took over the first. Hardin tallied four goals in the first while Kaltenberg had three. Carroll took a 13-1 lead within the first four minutes of the second quarter, on Jelacic's first goal of the game. Hallman pushed the Pioneers up 15-2 with two minutes left until halftime.
Kaltenberg and Hardin both scored their fifth goals of the game in the third quarter, along with
Grace Brockman on a free-position shot. Jelacic,
Carley Hall, and
Janu Patel rounded out the Pioneer scoring in the final fifteen minutes.
Carroll will travel North after a bit of a break on Wednesday, March 1, to take on the Sabers of Marian University in Fond du Lac.
