Andrew LaBelle won in straight sets at No. 1 singles as the Carroll University men's tennis team defeated Dickinson College 5-4 in a nonconference dual meet at Chaplin Park on Sunday.
It was opening competition of a challenging Spring Break road trip for Carroll, which improved to 8-2 overall.
LaBelle, a freshman from Mukwonago, Wis., defeated Dickinson's Garrick Adams 6-3, 6-2 to earn his fourth consecutive individual victory to improve to 8-2 in duals and 9-3 overall.
Jack McCaffery followed with a victory at No. 4 singles, winning in straight sets over Will Lewis 6-3, 6-4.
McCaffery, a sophomore from Waukesha, improved to 8-2 in duals and 9-3 overall.
Layton Carls, contributed a resilient three-set victory at No. 6 singles, outlasting Florian Anderson 6-4, 1-6, 10-3.
Carls, a freshman from St. Francis, Wis., also improved to 8-2 in duals and 9-3 overall.
The Pioneers pulled out the victory by capturing two matches in the doubles flight.

Ryan LaBelle combined for a victory at No. 1 doubles (8-5). The No. 2 doubles team of McCaffery and
David Eman added a victory at No. 2 doubles (8-4).
The LaBelle brothers won their second straight to improve to 7-3 in duals and 8-4 overall. McCaffery and Eman improved to 8-1 in duals and 9-2 overall.
