CHICAGO, Ill. -
Ben Hurt Haller, a freshman left fielder from Cary, Ill., went 2-for-4 with two, three-run home runs and six RBIs but the Carroll University baseball team lost to North Park University 18-8 in a cool, overcast College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Holmgren Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon.
It was the second consecutive loss for Carroll, which dropped to 7-4 in the conference standings and 15-14 overall.
The game was limited to eight innings as the 10-run mercy rule was enforced.
Hurt Haller became the 23rd player in program history to hit two home runs in a single game for the Pioneers, equaling the team record.

Trevor Benz and
Nick Herzog each followed with two hits to help propel a 10-hit offensive attack for Carroll, which stranded seven baserunners.
The Pioneers scored four runs on two hits in the top of the second inning to claim a 4-3 lead, ignited on Hurt Haller's first three-run homer of the contest. Benz drove in the other run on a two-out RBI single to left field.
Carroll scored three runs on two hits in the third to tie the game 7-7, sparked on Hurt Haller's second, three-run blast of the afternoon.
The Pioneers' final run came on a solo homer down the left-field line in the fifth.
Carroll utilized three pitchers in the showdown including starter
Brett Buzzelli,
Scotty Starovich and
Brady LaMack.
Starovich allowed seven earned runs on nine hits with one strikeout and two walks through 2 1/3 innings.
North Park improved to 6-6 in conference and 12-20 overall.
