Carroll Gets Season Opening Victory Over Beloit

Waukesha, Wis. -- The Carroll University women's soccer starts their 2023 season off with a 2-0 victory over Beloit College in front of a warm welcoming crowd at Schneider Stadium. Brielle Ingalsbee scored the game sealing goal in the 83' minute, giving first-year head coach Taylor Clarke a sigh of relief and securing his first victory as a Pioneer.

The Pioneers (1-0) held 60 percent of the possession throughout the game, with 67 percent of that time in the attacking half of the field. Carroll got up 10 shots, seven corners, and one save from Caitlin Fitzsimons. Grace Tumilty led the way for the group with four shots, as she was joined by six other Pios contributing to the shot total.

The Pioneers were dominant throughout the first half of the game recording six shots, as Samantha Champney set up a great header attempt for Tumilty; as she was able to capitalize, scoring the first goal of the season for the Pios.

For most of the second half, the Pioneers would rely on their strong back line headed by Kenzie Blau and Jessica Stepien. Carroll gave up zero shot attempts in the second half has they continued to put the pressure on the Beloit defense. As the game reached the final 10 minutes of play Carroll had been knocking on the doorstep with several shot attempts. Finally, Ingalsbee was able to get a deflecting ball from the Beloit goalkeeper for an open goal opportunity to give Carroll a two-goal advantage over Beloit.

Carroll will remain at home for the next competition, facing Lake Forest on Sunday, September 3 at 5:00 PM. Carroll is 12-7 overall against the Foresters, claiming a 1-0 victory the last time the two teams played one another.
