Box Score Waukesha, Wis. -- The Carroll University women's soccer came out of the weekend 2-0 getting a 4-0 win over Lake Forest College. Adding a cherry on top of the 4-0 victory, the Pioneers got to celebrate the great careers of their seven seniors. The Pioneers had four different plays score throughout the night in a full team effort to notch off another 'W' in the win column.
The Pioneers (2-0) took an impressive 24 shots on the night, with 11 of them being on target. Carroll was able to take six corners on the night, while holding 59 percent of the possession throughout the game. 65 percent of that time in the attacking half of the field. Senior, Caitlin Fitzsimons faced just four shots on the night, having three saves throughout the game. Grace Tumilty led the way for the group with six shots, three of which were on target. Â
Carroll found themselves in good position early as senior, Amanda Rose was able to capitalize on a penalty kick in the first 6' minutes of the game. For the rest of the first half the Pios would find themselves in a scrappy battle as the two teams had a total of eight fouls throughout the first half.
A dominant pace in the second half would be set by two quick shots that were blocked by the Foresters. Carroll would eventually break through, as senior Kenzie Blau scored a goal off a corner kick, giving the Pioneers a 2-0 cushion. Â Settling into the half and finding a grove the Pioneers would take control of most of the possessions. The heat of the day entitled both teams to take a water break midway through the half. This seemed to give Carroll an extra spark, as they would come out and score a third unanswered goal from Elli Pease, assisted by Samantha Anderson in the 85' minute of the match. Not quite satisfied with this, Maya Klementzos found the back of the net in the 89' minute, giving the Pioneers a 4-0 victory in their second game of the season.
Carroll will be hitting the road for their first away game of the season on Sept. 5th at 5:00 PM, as they take on Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Â
