Eighth Annual Toast To Pioneer Women Scheduled For Friday, February 7

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University athletics department will be hosting its eighth annual Toast to Pioneer Women event on Friday, February 7 from 6-9 p.m. at Raised Grain Brewing in Waukesha, Wis. (1725 Dolphin Dr.). Join us then, as we celebrate Carroll University Pioneer Women's Athletics. Mingle with Carroll alumni, parents and families, fans and friends, while hearing updates from Carroll coaches and players. All proceeds will benefit the Jean Kilgour Endowment for Women's Athletics.

Established by Jean Kilgour in 1974, the Kilgour Endowment underwrites operations of Carroll's women's athletics teams for travel, equipment, and uniforms, etc. Jean, affectionately known as "Teach," dedicated an impressive 43 years to teaching at Carroll before retiring in 1969. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she was inducted into the Carroll Athletic Hall of Fame in 1974, and a residence hall was named in her honor.

You may register for this outstanding event by going to https://www.carrollu.edu/events/event-details?eventid=55429, or by scanning the QR Code on this story graphic at the top of the page with the camera function on your smart device. Raised Grain Brewing is located at 1725 Dolphin Dr., Suite B in Waukesha, Wis. All attendees will receive two free beers, a buffet dinner, a door prize, and pride in supporting Carroll University Women's Athletics.

"Having an opportunity to honor the great Jean "Teach" Kilgour, while celebrating our past and present women athletes is something I don't take for granted," Carroll Athletics Director Michael Schulist said. "Carroll has a strong tradition of excellence in women's sports, and this event provides the ability to create awareness around these accomplishments while also raising funds for the future of Carroll women's athletics."

Beyond her role as a devoted member of the Carroll faculty, Jean Kilgour emerged as a respected leader in the advancement of women's sports and a prominent figure in the community. Her influence extended to the promotion of physical fitness across all age groups, and she served as a nationally rated basketball official for over three decades. Additionally, Jean excelled as an individual champion in track, golf, fencing, tennis, and sailing. She left a lasting legacy upon her passing in 1993 at the remarkable age of 94. Each year, we take pride in honoring her memory at the Toast to Pioneer Women.
