Pioneers split in back-to-back season-opening nonconference duals

Carroll sweeps Milwaukee School of Engineering 9-0 and falls to Concordia Wisconsin 8-1

The Carroll University women's tennis team split in back-to-back season-opening nonconference dual meets Friday, sweeping Milwaukee School of Engineering 9-0 in its home-court debut to begin the day and later suffering an 8-1 road loss to Concordia University Wisconsin.
Kaitlin Brandl finished the day with a 2-0 individual record to lead the Pioneers.

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll made a strong statement in its home-court season debut versus MSOE at the Jean Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Complex, powered by five straight-set victories in the singles flight.
Natasha Pupovac set the tone by winning at No. 1 singles, defeating MSOE's Karley Way, 6-0, 6-0.
Brandl (No. 3), Erin Horzewski (No. 4), Gracie Niebler (No. 5) and Emily Stern (No. 6) each followed with a straight-set victory for Carroll.
Makayla Counsell contributed a victory at No. 2 singles as the result of her opponent's retirement in the second set.
The No. 1 doubles team of Sophia Dekker and Aalaiya Jacklin (8-3), No. 2 tandem of Pupovac and Madison Ostrander (8-2) and No. 3 team of Maya Gaedtke and Katherine Trifilio (8-2) each added a victory to complete the dominant performance.

MEQUON, Wis. - Carroll's lone victory came at No. 6 singles as Brandl defeated CUW's Peyton Morgan 6-2, 6-4.
CUW claimed five singles victories to pull away.
