Women's Soccer Hands #19 Loras First Loss Of The Year

Waukesha, Wis. -- The Carroll University women's soccer came to play as they hand #19 Loras their first loss of the 2023 season. Carroll, battling a three losing streak was determined to get out of their slump and back on track to reaching their full potential. They did just that wish a dominate second half led by Junior Grace Tumilty.

The Pioneers (3-3) got back to the offensive side taking 14 shots, with four being on target. This compared to just five shots given up by the gritty Carroll back line. Carroll was not going to be pushed around as they tallied up 15 fouls on the night. Fitzsimons was able to make four saves throughout the game, making it her third clean sheet of the season.  

Carroll found themselves on their heels early in the game, as Loras dominated the possession in the first 30 minutes of the game. In the 35' minute Samantha Anderson was an able to rifle of Carroll first shot of the night missing high and right. This would allow Carroll to settle in find a grove going into the half.

Coming out the half, both teams were in attack mode firing off three shots in the first five minutes of the half. Then at the 65' minute Tumilty found another gear, making a great run that would force a diving save by the keeper and deflect in the waiting feet of Brielle Ingalsbee to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Tumilty would find herself in another run to get past the defense, this time capitalizing and giving the Pioneers a 2-0 lead in the 67' minute of the game. This second goal would give the Pios total momentum as they controlled the rest of the game until the final three whistles were blown.

Carroll is back on the road as they travel up to De Pere, Wis. to face St. Norbert on Friday, September 15th. Carroll looks to stack up another win and get their first road win of the year.
