Chicago, Ill. -- Carroll University's women's soccer couldn't overcome University of Chicago on the road today. The Pioneers fell 0-3 to the Maroons as the Carroll offense couldn't get their offense going.
The Pioneers (6-4) took just three shots on the night, with one being on target. Carroll committed just six fouls that night. Senior, Caitlin Fitzsimons faced 29 shots on the night. Fitzsimons was able to make 8 saves throughout the game. Unfortunately, there were three shots that did find the back of the net.
Carroll found themselves on their own half of the field early in the game as the Maroons fired off seven shots in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Pioneer defense held strong and did not give up an early goal. In the 23' minute of the night, Elli Pease got a good look on goal, but couldn't covert as the Wash-U keeper made a save. The Pios found themselves defending for much of the half. However, in the 38' minute of the half Grace Tumilty would take a shot but miss wide right. This would sum up the half as the two teams would go into half time tied 0-0.
Chicago would come out of the half with a lot of momentum as they would score early in the 62' minute of the game. Carroll would try to get back into the fight but wouldn't have much luck as the Maroons would take a 0-2 lead with just minutes remaining in the game. Carroll would concede one more goal in the 87' minute of the game. This would stop the Pios from fighting as Tumilty would fire off one more shot in the 88' minute of the game. This would end the game with Chicago getting a 0-3 victory.
Carroll looks to get back on track, as they are home once again on Saturday, September 30th against CCIW opponent Elmhurst at 1:00 PM.
