Carroll Continues Strong Start To CCIW Play After Taking Down Bluejays

Waukesha, Wis. -- Carroll University's women's soccer team remains undefeated in CCIW play after taking down Elmhurst 1-0 earlier today. Carroll's Elli Pease led the way for the Pioneers with six shots, two of them being on target; as well as adding an assist to the lone goal scored on the day.

The Pioneers (7-4) took 26 shots, with 12 being on target. Carroll committed just seven fouls throughout the course of the game. Senior, Caitlin Fitzsimons had an easy day in the box facing just one shot. Fitzsimons was able to make one save and tallied her fifth clean sheet of the year.

To open the game Carroll fired a shot off in the first minute of play, looking aggressive early. That intensity was clear when Grace Tumilty took a hard foul in the box drawing a penalty kick in the first six minutes of play. The Pioneers wouldn't be able to capitalize as Elmhurst would make two consecutive saves. This didn't stop the Pios as they fired off 16 shots to Elmhurst's zero in the first half. Although the Pioneers played the first half with relent pressure the Bluejays would find a way to hold on going into the half tied 0-0.

Coming out of the half, Carroll looked to keep the pressure on, as they took three shots in the first five minutes. In the 65' minute of the game, Pease would serve up a ball to senior Kenzie Blau off a corner kick. Blau would finish off the play with a goal to take a 1-0 lead. The Pios would take six more shots trying to widen the margin but would be unsuccessful walking away with a 1-0 victory.

Carroll looks to continue their strong conference play as they travel to Kenosha on Wednesday, October 4th, to faceoff with CCIW opponent Carthage at 7:00 PM.
