Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Carroll Shuts Out Illinois Tech

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's men's soccer team earned their first shutout of the season Wednesday night in convincing fashion, defeating Illinois Tech 2-0, while limiting the Scarlet Hawks to just one shot in the contest. The Pioneers finished with 22 shots, including 13 on goal.

Both of Carroll's goals came in the first half, with Marc Gollner breaking a scoreless tie in the 26th minute on an assist from Marti Solanellas. The only other goal of the night came just seven minutes later when Josh Gonzaga found the back of the net for his first goal of the season and 14th of his career.

Jason Brunger earned the win in his first career start at Goal Keeper for the Pioneers (2-1-0), as he was helped by Carroll's backend that severely limited Illinois Tech's offense. Brunger played all 90 minutes between the pipes, while Illinois Tech's Adam Falcingo also played the entire game, making 11 saves.

The Pios will be back in action again on Friday when they'll battle Concordia (Wis.) in a neutral site game at Bavarian Soccer Complex in Glendale, Wis. That game will begin at 8 p.m. and can be seen live at https://gopios.com/watch/?Live=149&type=Live.
