WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's men's tennis team opened up their 2023 season with a bang Thursday afternoon, defeating Concordia (Wis.) 7-2. The Pioneers won two of the three doubles matches, before also taking five of six singles matches.
In doubles play, Carroll's number one team of
Adrian Gomez and
Daniel Ezcurra won 8-3, while the Pioneers' number two doubles team of
Andrew LaBelle and
Ryan LaBelle was victorious by an 8-6 margin.
In singles play, Gomez won his top flight match 6-4, 6-1, while Ezcurra won at number two singles, 7-5, 6-4. Andrew and
Ryan LaBelle earned victories at the number three and four flights, respectively by scores of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1.
Jack McCaffery also earned a team point with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the number six match.
Carroll (1-0) will be in action again this weekend when they'll take part in the CCIW Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Naperville, Ill.
