WAUKESHA, Wis. - Carroll's women's soccer team defeated Elmhurst University 4-0 Wednesday night, scoring two goals in each half. That improves the Pioneers' home record to 3-0-0 on the season, while staking claim to first place in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) standings with an early 2-0-0 record in conference play. Carroll dominated this contest from the outset, holding a 27-2 shot advantage in the game, including an 11-2 margin in shots on goal.
After neither team scored in the first 33 minutes, Carroll (5-6-2, 0-2-0 CCIW) made up for lost time, netting a pair of goals in the next three and a half minutes.
Mari Sagstad broke the scoreless tie with her team-leading seventh goal of the season, thanks to an assist from
Carmella Nowak, before Eli Pease added an unassisted goal to give the Pios a 2-0 halftime lead.
The second half saw Carroll waste no time, with
Brielle Ingalsbee scoring just two minutes into the period on Nowack's second assist of the contest. The Pios capped the scoring with just one and a half minutes remaining on freshman
Ellie Patrickus' first collegiate goal.
This win marks the 19th career shutout for Carroll Goal Keeper
