CHICAGO, IL - Carroll men's soccer had another ranked road trip on Saturday night, falling to the #9-ranked (United Soccer Coaches Association) Vikings of North Park by a score of 2-0 in a CCIW match. Eau Claire outshot Carroll by a 13-10 margin, with a slight 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Vikings got on the board in the ninth minute, before Carroll settled in to hold North Park scoreless and go into halftime down just one. The Vikings doubled their lead early in the second half, scoring in the 50th minute. Carroll could not overcome the formidable Viking defense and left Chicago in a 2-0 defeat.
David Serra and Ethan Kratzer both led the team with three shots, while Serra posted three shots on goal to lead the Pios. Jason Brunger got the start at goalie for Carroll, playing the full 90 minutes and allowing two goals and recording five saves.
Carroll continues their season-closing three-game road trip on Wednesday, October 23, where they travel to Wheaton, IL to take on the Thunder in a CCIW match with postseason implications.
