ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Carroll men's soccer defeated Augustana College on Saturday evening, picking up a CCIW road victory and continuing their unblemished streak to eight games. Carroll (6-1-4, 2-0-1 CCIW) had an attack mindset throughout, firing 24 goals to Augustana's (3-3-1, 0-2-0 CCIW) five.
On the attack, Sam Dorchester and Marti Solanelles had six shots apiece to lead the Pios. David Serra provided the fireworks for the contest, scoring in the 23rd minute off the foot of Nico Hinten. The goal came as Serra's third in the season. The Carroll's defense held strong to force the shutout, and walk out of Rock Island victorious.
Jason Brunger played all 90 minutes in the cage for the Pios, allowing zero goals and tallying two saves, defending his fifth shutout of the season. For Augustana, Benjamin Samuelson started and played all 90 minutes, allowing one goal and registering 12 saves.
Carroll face a tough road test at 6 p.m. on Wednesday October 9, where they travel to face #13 (United Soccer Coaches) UW-Eau Claire in Eau Claire, Wis.
