EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Carroll men's soccer had a nonconference road trip on Wednesday night, falling to the #12-ranked (United Soccer Coaches Association) Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire by a score of 4-0. Eau Claire outshot Carroll by a 14-5 margin, with a 9-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Blugolds got on the board in the seventh minute, with three more coming in the next 15 minutes of play. Nathan Donovan recorded a first-half hat trick for UW-Eau Claire. Carroll settled in defensively but could not find the back of the net as the deficit was too large to overcome.
Sam Dorchester led the Pioneers with two shots, one of which was a shot on goal. Jason Brunger got the start at goalie for Carroll, allowing four goals and recording two saves. Uriel Garcia was subbed in with 43 minutes left in the second period, recording three saves.
Carroll returns to the friendly confines of Schneider Stadium on Saturday, October 12 for a CCIW matchup against Millikin University on senior day.
