Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pios Remain Atop The CCIW With Fifth Straight Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. - Ranked eighth in the region, Carroll's women's soccer team extended their current win streak to five games with a 5-2 victory at Carthage Wednesday night. That marks the Pioneers' longest win streak since the 2016 season, and puts them atop the CCIW standings with a 4-0-0 conference record.

Carmella Nowak gave Carroll (6-4-2, 4-0-0 CCIW) the lead in the 29th minute, breaking a scoreless tie thanks to an assist from Grace Tumilty.

The Pioneers would double their lead 10 miniutes into the second half when Kenzie Blau found the back of the net for the second thime this season. Carthage (5-3-3, 1-2-0 CCIW) wouldn't go away quietly however, scoring their first goal in the 63rd minute via Peyton Olinski. Carroll would get that goal back just minutes later when Blau scored for a second time, thanks to another assist by Tumilty. Carthage then cut the lead to one in the 76th minute on a Jess Beymer goal. That would be as close as it would get the rest of the night, with Carroll adding insurance goals by Brielle Ingalsbee and Mari Sagstad in the final minutes.

Carroll out-shot Carthage by a 24-8 margin, including 15-6 on goal. Carroll Goal Keeper Caitlin Fitzsimons recorded four saves on the night, while playing all 90 minutes. Her counterpart, Vickie Engel also played the entire game, making 10 saves.

The Pioneers will go for their sixth consecutive win on Saturday when they'll welcome Millikin University to Schneider Stadium in Waukesha, Wis. That game will begin at 6 p.m., and will be preceded by the men's contest against the Big Blue.
