RESULTS
DECATUR, Ill. - Both Carroll's men's and women's swim teams were victorious in Saturday's dual meet at Millikin University. The Pio men won by a score of 98-76, while Carroll's women's team earned a 124-56 victory.
Carroll's men finished the meet with seven first-place finishes, including two relays. Freshman
Matthew Hansen won the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 12:15.89, while fellow first-year student
Jacob Rossi won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.53. Eddie McConnaha continued his outstanding senior season with a victory in the 400 IM (4:36.43), while fellow senior
Dylan Klang won the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.48. Freshman
Thomas Rynne added a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:20.19. In the relay competition, Carroll's 400 freestyle team of Rossi, Klang, McConnaha, and
Gavin Buechel won that event with a time of 3:24.25, which was six seconds better than the next-best time, while the Pios' team of Rynne, Rossi, Buechel, and McConnaha won the 400 medley with a time of 3:50.32.
On the women's side, Carroll brought home nine first-place finishes, with one of those coming in a relay.
Kelly Gordon was victorious in a pair of events, winning both the 400 IM (5:12.08) and 200 butterfly (2:28.52).
Josie Peterson also won two events for the Pioneers, taking first in both the 50 freestyle (24.85) and 100 freestyle (55.18). Freshman
Carigan Tabor also won two events, winning both the 1000 freestyle (12:10.41) and 200 breaststroke (2:50.46).
Morgan Toupal added a first-place finish for the Pioneers in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.47), while
Erin Fixen placed first in the 500 freestyle (5:42.19). Carroll's 400 freestyle relay team of Toupal,
Anna Clare Miller,
Grace Nelson, and
Kaya Martin was also victorious with a time of 3:52.51, which was nearly 13 seconds better than the second-place team.
The Pioneers will be in action again next weekend when they'll travel to Chicago to take on Illinois Tech in a dual meet, which will begin at 1 p.m.
