NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Carroll University track and field program took part in Friday's opening day of competition at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Indoor Championships at Al B. Carius Track (hosted by North Central College).
Following the completion of five scored events, Carroll is currently eighth in the women's competition and ninth in the men's portion of the two-day meet.
Maria Falk, a junior from Oshkosh, Wis., finished fourth in the women's weight throw with a distance of 15.69 meters (51-5 3/4) to lead the Pioneers, accomplishing the best throw on her fourth attempt.
Grace Kelly contributed a seventh-place finish in weight throw 14.66 (48-1 1/4) and
Vanessa Uitenbroek was eighth in weight throw 14.58 (47-10).
Carroll's distance medley relay team (
Brooke Davies,
Taylor Olund,
Lucy Beuthin and
Natalie Parent) clocked in with an eighth-place time of 13:51.38.
Savannah Krzykowski was 13th in the women's pentathlon with 1,311 points.
In the men's meet,
Jimmy Hinkley placed sixth in weight throw with a distance of 16.94 meters (55-7) to help lead the Pioneers.
Will Campbell was eighth in the weight throw with 16.49 meters (54-1 1/4).
